Many colleges, employers, and other institutions like to know about a student’s activities. This helps the college or employer paint a more comprehensive picture of the student. The first step in creating an activity resume is listing the things you have done and this can include in and out of school activities, paid or volunteer work, short-term or long term duration. See the list below to help categorize your list.

Academic Honors:
  • Department Awards
  • National Honor Society
  • Global Citizenship Certificate
  • Information to include: title of award or organization, grade received, description

Athletics:
  • Individual sport or team sport
  • Information to include: your position, leadership roles, grade in school, special honors or awards received

Extra-Curricular Activities (at school):
  • Clubs, student-run organizations, and special projects
  • List by order of significance - either in terms of time commitment or achievement
  • Information to include: your position, activity description, duration and/or hours committed per week, special honors or awards received
 
Extra-Curricular Activities (outside of school):
  • Volunteer or community service experiences
  • Other commitments such as babysitting gigs, religious & charity community events, etc.
  • Information to include: your position, activity description, duration and/or total hours completed

Work Experience:
  • Order by most recent at top to least recent on bottom
  • Information to include: company name, job title, duration, responsibilities, grade in school, year

Summer Experiences:
  • Non-work travel or program experiences
  • Outward  Bound, summer camps, enrichment courses, etc.
  • Information to include: brief description of the experience, duration, grade in school, year

Interests and Hobbies:
  • ​Skills acquired, duration, level of involvement, grade in school
